Marta Timmer (Blicharz) is a multidisciplinary visual artist working in graphic design, photography, glitch art, collage, painting, drawing, and installation.
Since very early on Marta used drawing and painting as an escape from the real world, eventually becoming heavily influenced by Romantic painters and writers around the age of 15.
Now, inspired by the likes of H. R. Giger, Edward Burtynsky, Zbigniew Beksiński, Tim Burton, and Banksy, Marta’s art touches on themes of identity, ethereality, consumerism, dystopian worlds, subconscious drives, the dark side of human nature, and the sublime.
Marta’s education includes an MFA in New Media from University of Lethbridge, a BFA in Photography + Psychology Minor from University of Calgary, and a Multimedia Production Diploma from Lethbridge College.
Currently, Marta takes on all things creative at Wild Forest, and teaches New Media at the University of Lethbridge Calgary Campus.
Marta has exhibited and presented locally and internationally, in solo and group contexts including in Toronto, Calgary, Lethbridge, Vancouver and Chicago. She is currently represented by DaDe Art & Design Lab in Calgary, Alberta.
